All pupils are involved in group discussion and interaction.

Inquest - Macbeth is designed to provide opportunities for pupils to take a variety of roles within a group and to prepare for more formal presentation speaking.

Pupils are required to listen, understand and respond appropriately to other pupils, to make contributions and take turns in discussion.

Inquest - Macbeth provides a totally different context for pupils to work within. Pupils are encouraged to use illustrations and evidence to explain their ideas, including visual aids and images where possible.

Inquest - Macbeth allows opportunities for pupils to evaluate their own speaking and presentation skills, as well as the work of others.

During Inquest - Macbeth, pupils work in groups; interaction is imperative in creating a successful session.

Pupils are encouraged to make their own contribution to the group, to listen to others and to modify their own view or decision in light of others' ideas.

A variety of roles are available to each pupil. It is essential that they sift through, identify and then summarise important information during the simulation.

Group discussions and interaction includes hypothesising, debating and analysing information.

Reading

During Inquest - Macbeth pupils are required to read answers and extract meaning beyond the literal.

They are called upon to analyse and discuss alternative interpretations; Macbeth is packed full of ambiguity and illusion.

Pupils must discuss how ideas and emotions are portrayed and how the perspectives of individuals differ.

Pupils will be able to reflect on the behaviour of characters, and their motivations.

They should also reflect on the writer's techniques and structure of the text.

Opportunities are available for pupils to develop their reading of print and ICT-based information texts.

Shakespeare's Macbeth forms part of the range of literature pupils should have access to at KS3 and KS4.
