Story background
Two children are missing in the village of Chatsmore. Pupils adopt roles of investigating police officers, receiving reports from the general public of Chatsmore.
Pupils must use their investigative skills and careful judgement to decide which of the reports are relevant in order to solve the childrens' mysterious disappearance. Together they must try to discover where the children are, and why they are lost!
Pre-activity checklist
In preparation for the activity Actis suggest the following steps:
- Visit Organising Lost and review the whole of the Lost website.
(The teacher username and password will allow entry to the passworded areas.)
- Print off the teacher guidance material and child worksheets
- Run through the scenario.
- Use the teacher username and password to log on to the Projects admin area
- Place the message stream activity into the 'Waiting' position.
- Go to the Lost briefing page, click the log on button and enter the child username and password.
- Plan how to run the scenario and select follow-up activities.
- Place the scenario back into the 'Waiting' position at Projects admin area ready for use on the day.
Note: The message stream continues even if the Internet connection is lost temporarily. Simply log back on again to continue.In addition, it is possible to pause and resume the message stream in the event of an emergency. Log on to the Projects admin area with the teacher password and click the pause button. To resume, log on again and click on the resume icon.
