Once you have purchased a Project Box you will receive an email containing:
-
a password to enable you to access the teacher support area
-
a pupil password to activate the activity that has been purchased
-
a quick start guide to assist you in preparing the activity for use in
your classroom.
Below is a example of the material provided to assist with the running of Smash:
Suggested stages in running a Project Box with your class:
1) Log on to the teachers' area (e.g. Chief of Police in Smash) of your
purchased Project Box with your username and password. Read the background
information, print out the teacher information sheets and download all
the children's worksheets for use during the activity.
2) In your chosen lesson, group the children and brief them in your
role as their Chief. Ask them to print out their briefing sheet and
invite them to log on to check for messages.
3) The children will now see displayed a series of messages at timed
intervals within a simulated email system. Hand out the maps and
note taking sheets provided and ask the children to record information
which relates to the tasks set in the briefing.
4) At the end of the message stream hand out the second briefing sheet
and ask the children to make a presentation. (In the case of
Smash they must describe what happened in a road traffic accident using
the evidence they have collated.)
5) In follow up sessions use the lesson ideas provided to build on the
stimulus provided by the activity. Take advantage of assessment opportunities.
