This is what has happened.
Alice and Vicky left school early to go into town shopping. After their time in town, they caught the bus home. It was about 6pm when they finally got off the bus at Carpenter Road. As the bus pulled up at the bus stop Jo was passing, taking the family dog for a walk.
Vicky was under the impression that Jo Wheeler had told on her last week, when she took more time off school. Vicky picked up a half brick she saw on the path and threw it. The brick did not hit anyone, but it did hit a very large piece of glass in the bus shelter. Vicky and Alice did not think anyone except Jo had seen what happened and they both went home.
The shopkeeper, Mr. Smith, was looking out of the shop window when all this happened. He saw the three girls, all in school uniform. He saw they were talking to each other, and one of the girls, he was not sure which one, picked something up and threw it at the bus shelter causing the glass to break. It looked deliberate to him. He knew the faces of the girls as they regularly passed the shop, but the only one whose name he knew was Jo Wheeler.
The bus shelter is made of special safety glass, and the piece broken measured 4.5 x 2 metres and will cost £650 to replace.
Vicky had a final warning from the police six weeks ago, and was told at that time should she get in any more trouble she would be charged with the offence and would appear in court.
Jo wants to be friends with Alice and Vicky even though she does not like some of the things they do.
