With particular focus on drugs, teenage relationships and truancy, Dare You will stimulate valuable investigation into these topical and controversial issues.

Pupils work in role as a Year Tutor in a busy High School. After returning from leave, you discover one of your pupils is on the brink of serious trouble. With the help of pupils in your class, school records and information from the Town Website, you are able to investigate the decline of this pupil into a dangerous situation.

Steal It?

Steal It? is a citizenship-based project with strong curricular links to English, Literacy, Drama and PSHE.

Designed to motivate and involve pupils in 'real life' situations and dramas. Pupils are encouraged to question their role in society and and look at how their actions, and those of others, sometimes have far reaching consequences in the community.

Pupils are in role as organisers of after-school activities in a busy High School. After a spate of burglaries in the area, various members of the community are blaming members of the after-school club.

The only way for the pupils to keep the club open is by investigating the crimes which have been committed in order to identify those people who were really involved.

Burning Issue

Burning Issue

In Burning Issue there have been a number of arson attacks in the town of Seyster, many aimed at public buildings and schools in particular. Matters are being made worse by misleading hoax calls to the Emergency Services.

The class are work experience pupils on placement in the School Office at Seyster High School. Their peers are also on work experience at a variety of locations in the community - some of which are crucial to the investigations.

Using a variety of resources including a continuous message stream, school records and the local town website, pupils must:

  • try and identify the person who is making hoax calls and setting the fires,
  • give what help they can to the Emergency Services.

Killjoy

Killjoy

Killjoy is the fifth product in the Dilemma series of PSHE/Citzenship Project Boxes. In this project the growing problem of drunken behaviour and theft of cars by teenagers on the Hayes Estate must be investigated. The project carefully and realistically deals with the issues and problems of those involved and the life-threatening consequences of such actions.

The project consists of three stages using different approaches to investigate the extent of the problem and the issues involved.

At conclusion, youngsters should be more aware of the effects of anti-social behaviour and have an improved perception of the potential seriousness of activities like 'joyriding' and under-age drinking.
