Accident is an online scenario. Pupils work in role as Police Officers, dealing with public enquiries, complaints, accident and incident reports.

Pupils log on to the ‘Digicom’ system and receive incoming messages at intervals of 1 - 5 minutes.

There are three ways to run the project:

1. as a stand alone project box,
2. as a stand alone project box with police officers in the classroom or
3. as a 'live' project box, run with a 'live link' to police officers at Headquarters.

Essentially the following checklist and all the worksheets in the Teachers' Notes are all you need to run the project.

Last Minute Checklist

Before the lesson

• Group your pupils.
• Photocopy the Pupil Information Sheets.
• Photocopy the Worksheets for use during Accident. Have plenty of spares.
• Book the IT suite/sort out the computer and printer.
• Look forward to an enthralling lesson.

During the lesson

• Distribute the Pupil Information Sheets.
• Ensure that each group have nominated their officers and written them on the sheet.
• Briefly show the pupils the database and how to use it (if you feel this is necessary).
• Distribute the other worksheets for use during Accident.
• Sit back and watch.

After the lesson

• Photocopy extension worksheets.
• Enjoy purposeful discussion and debate.
