Aim, Learning Objectives and Outcomes

Aim

To involve participants in all aspects of a series of events in order to make decisions about what has happened and the consequences for all those involved.

Objectives

To give pupils the opportunity to:

  • develop as helpful and active members of the community,

  • manage and co-ordinate the Police and Public Services response to an accident, creating a diversion and responding to public enquiries,

  • investigate the accident and debate responsibility,

  • experience the events around an accident in the town of Seyster, and the consequences for those responsible and the impact on the community as a whole.

Outcomes

Pupils experience working with local Police, Fire and Ambulance services and take responsibility for responding to the public and liaising with community officials.

Pupils recognise that pressure from others can affect safety and develop effective ways of resisting pressure.

Pupils communicate effectively and confidently with peers and adults, making ‘real’ choices about ‘real’ situations.
